SOAR-Specific Adult Soccer Rules
SLIDE TACKLES: No slide tackles at a player with the ball from any direction. The player has to leave the field for 5 min. if a yellow card is issued. Teams can bring on a substitute for the carded player. Sliding will be a yellow card. The Goal Keeper will be the only one who can slide for the ball with hands on the ball not feet. The keeper must be sliding to put hands on the ball and not with intentions for feet on the ball. This call is at the discretion of the referee calling the game. A player cannot slide in the open field if NOONE IS AROUND THEM to save the ball or block a shot.
CARDING: Yellow and red cards can be issued. Player has to leave the field on a yellow card (5 min. cool down). Teams can bring on a substitute for the carded player. A team who has a player that has received a double yellow card (red card) or an outright red card will play one player down. Warn player for off color language. First offense is a yellow card for the player. Yellow cards carry for the ENTIRE REGULAR SEASON. In other words, if a player gets a yellow card one week and another yellow card weeks later but still during the regular season it’s a 2nd yellow that automatically becomes a red card and that player must sit out the next game. A player who receives a 2nd red card in a single season must sit out the remainder of the season for which they get the red cards in.
CALL EXPLANATIONS: Only Captains can discuss concerns/ref calls with the refs (See League Rules)
SUBSTITUTIONS
GAME SCORE: If a team goes ahead by 3 or more goals in a game then the team that is losing by 3 or more goals is allowed to add a 9th player onto the field. If at any time the margin of victory drops below 3 goals the team with a 9th player must drop back down to 8 players on the field. This only applies for REGULAR SEASON MATCHES, NOT PLAYOFFS
