LSBSA 8U LEAGUE RULES
These are the simple rules we will play by in league. I know some may vary from NCS tournament rules but this is league ball. Please note these rules are a hybrid of USSSA and NCS, but want in writing to avoid any confusion.
Game Play Information
- A regulation game shall be seven (7) innings.
- The Tiebreaker Procedure will be used in the 8th inning or in any inning that begins after time has expired. Tiebreaker in league games is bases loaded, 2 outs.
- A maximum of 6 runs can be scored each inning for each team
- If either team is behind and cannot catch up or go ahead, the game shall be over immediately. Effectively that is 13 runs after 3 innings, 7 runs after 4 innings.
- Bats must have USSSA or USA stamp
- 11-inch regulation ball (.47 C.O.R. and .375 compressions) will be used & provided by umpire
- If umpire does not provide the balls, both coaches will approve of the ball that is used.
Distances:
- The pitching rubber shall be set at thirty-five (35) feet for 8U Coach pitch. An 8 foot radius or 16 foot diameter circle will be placed around it.
- The base length is sixty (60) feet.
Time Limits:

- No new inning will start after 55 minutes.
Offensive Lineup:

- Bunting slapping, stealing, or slashing are NOT allowed.
- All offensive players must wear batting helmets with face mask & chin straps while on the playing field.
- There is no infield fly rule.
- Batted Ball hits pitching coach, is a dead ball and declared no pitch, unless intentionally interfered with by coach. Then the interference rules apply. All runners return to base.
- The pitching coach must start his motion with two feet inside the circle.
Baserunning:
- A runner may not leave the base until the ball has left the pitcher’s hand. No stealing allowed. For league purposes there is no throwing behind runners on swing and misses. Runners may only advance on a batted ball.

Defensive Rules & Positions:
- The defensive team must have a minimum of eight (8) and may have a maximum (10) players in the field.
- A thrown ball accidently hits pitching coach is a dead ball.
- All players must wear a helmet with face mask or game face protective gear. Six fielders including the catcher must be in the infield. The rest must be in the outfield.
- Overthrow Rule: The overthrow rule is NOT in effect. All balls are live play until the lead runner is stopped, runners can continue to run until this time.
